i had kept all the camping gear in back of Hilux and my Sankey trailer, just in case a weather forecast presented a opportunity for one last camping trip this year
and last weekend it did, so I booked Monday off work and last Saturday we headed 4 hours drive West to the Isle of Skye to a wild camping spot we have used before.
We had to area to ourselves, no other campers, just some day trippers.
No midges, not a cloud in the sky for the 3 days and it’s reached 15degC it was amazing for the trip of year and well worth heading out

Chilly outside at night, but I had carried plenty of logs and smokeless coal for the woodburner which kept it cosy in the Tipi.

Went out paddling in the kayak ,but didn’t catch any fish worth keeping.

Here are some photos

You Guys really know how to live. Are you planning to tour the World when you retire Andy? Genuine question.

Don’t think I am brave enough to do that :)

Nice one! Looks a lovely spot. We went camping the other weekend only in Derbyshire and surprisingly we were the only campers there too haha

Looks heavenly. Can’t wait to see more of the West Coast. Might even ask you to divulge the name of that spot ...

Just beautiful, Andy.

Love Scotland, particularly the west coast...

The best weather I’ve experienced there was a west coast drive on 4 January.... some years ago, cold at close to zero, but blue blue skies, no wind and sunny...

Ahhhh :icon-biggrin:

Love the photos, Scotland really is something else... And that Tipi, Brilliant. Inspirational, Thanks. Makes you want to get of 'yer' arse, What ever the weather.

Looks like a great spot and perfect timing with the weather. How does the Tipi stand up to wind if it decides to suddenly change?

WOW, looks fab, when I saw the title I thought 'thats brave this time of year!' but it looks great
Cracking photies:thumbup:

Looks good Andy we are staying near loch etive for xmas and can't wait to see the area

We have had it up in 40-50mph+ gusts, it wasn’t pleasant but survived
It has 16 guy lines, only used 2 last weekend, but deploy all of them in strong winds
Our tipi is a 9-person model, but I used a thicker pole (cut to correct length) from the 15-person tent because it’s much more robust.

A nice area, and if you ski you might get a chance At glencoe ski centre
You will have to visit the 007 film spot in Glen etive too :)

Was that filmed there? Amazing where abouts was the bond film shot then?

Hoping to get a day with trying to teach my 4 year old to ski. Not sure what the terrain will be like though.

Glencoe ski centre has beginners area, but Nevis Range may be better for a youngster, as uses a enclosed gondola, and begninner areas right next to the mountain restuarant
