They told me £1100 for a rear bumper with two wheel carriers about two months ago. That's good compared to ARB et al but it's not a cheap upgrade for a 20 year old vehicle.
I've not had a lot of success for my efforts this weekend. I took both props off and cut the old UJs out with a grinder. Fitting the new ones was difficult to say the least as they took a lot of persuasion. I broke a new vice in the process. Anyway one cup on the front prop hasn't pushed through enough to fit the C clip and one Uj on the rear prop must has dropped a needle because it's notchy. I've ordered another UJ for the rear.
After all this grief I didn't attend to change the diff pinion bearings and oil seals. I'm not 100% sure you can change the outer pinion bearing with pulling the diff. Has anyone done that? I'm
Guessing it slides on and is preloaded by the collar and flange?
Good spot. I noticed it had fallen out when i inspected the UJs for play last week. I've put some grease directly onto the splines which will suffice until I can lay my hands on a suitably small nipple...
I was hoping you would be able to advise my on the process for replacing the outer pinion bearing and seal??
I have been really busy at work and decided to engage the services of a pal of mine who has just setup business on his own. He's built his own vehicles and has worked on trucks, trains and 4x4s all his life. Its a long trek for me but I can trust his work 110% and he knows how things should be done right. He's also cheap!
Checkout MB Autos on facebook or the web and tell him Paul sent you. He also does mobile work on cars and commercials vehicles.
