Petro tape / Grease tape

With all the anti-rust talk that goes on here, has anyone used petro tape (aka grease tape)? I used to use it on cranes which operated above acid baths.
Wrap it around any nuts and bolts which you don't want filled with salt and corrosion etc. Leave it on indefinitely, when you next need to undo something, it won’t have rusted.
I've just seen it in Tool Station for not a lot of money. Might be an idea for various bits now that winder is coming.

Looks like what we used to call Denso tape. Most of the factories in the North were held together with it.
