A little more information then
The Green Rock Crawler started life as this
It is an Axial AX10 and has been copies to quite exact detail 10 times the size. Its still a bit of a work in progress but the basic spec thus far is a 1.8TD Escort engine and gearbox mounted transversly so that the axle that did drive the front passanger wheel now drives the front prop and drivers does the rear. Make gear changes interesting as now 1st is back and to the left, 2nd is back and to the right and so on with neutral being front to back as opposed to side to side. The axles come from the Patrol and the new tyres he has to go on are 25" wide by 52" tall (exactly 10 times the size of the model ones.
I have had a play in it and frankly hate it. the guy who built it is a bit of a short arse and put the pedals in accordingly which made it very difficult for me to drive
The Patrol now has Portal axles and 42"tyres.
As for the cleanliness of Dirty Gal that is thanks in no small part to my little brother (some of you have met him). He used to be very much into the modified street car scene and has had several cars at this type of show before. He turned up at my house on saturday morning with shampoo, polish and wax in hand, left him to it, he was in his element. Don't know if you can tell in the pics but I have now painted the roof matt black, plastics and bumpers are to follow before the new green goes on. with a little luck and fair weather it may be getting done next weekend so I could be upsetting people at Lincomb.
The "V8" is actually the 1.6 DOHC engine in an import MX5 and won the cleanest engine bay award
