Recovery Blocks

They'll either grab you out or deeper in. Worth a go though depending on what you're struck in.

I saw something like this on Youtoob. A bit more homespun but it worked a treat.

Well its one of those things that one day just might save your bacon. As long as you have 4 pieces of wood and ratchet straps. On a vehicle without lockers it might at least have the effect of stopping a spinning wheel just enough to send drive to a wheel with better grip

I like this, it’s simple and I can’t imagine how it would be ineffective in most bogged scenarios... as Chris says, subject to having some wood blocks and ratchet straps on board...

I was stuck on one occasion (for 5 hours) with no trees or the like to winch from and I had ratchet straps (but no wood), but even if I’d had the wood, I wouldn’t have thought of doing this...

Good tip, and note to self, chuck a couple of bits of wood into the cubby...

Same principle as snow chains I guess? I know of a guy who goes laning with a 2wd Vauxhall Astra and uses chains on that when it starts getting slippery...

The significant thing I think is that not only does it place a single tread across the tyre but it straddles the rut the tyre has made giving it a lift up and out.
