IIRC the disk floats on the hub. The studs are pressed into the hub (trying to remember when I had mine changed). The hub/bearing (single unit) was not easy to remove on mine as it was seized on.
Short answer to your question, pretty sure caliper and disk have to come off.
Nope. I replaced one without taking all the gubbins off. There is a cutout at the back you need to line with and then a BFH on the stud will pop it out.
Note to use thread lock on the splines of the new stud.
Put the new one on through the same cut-out then pull it through with a sacrificial nut and washer pack.
Unfortunately no cut out on mine so I had to remove the caliper and swing it out of the way then the disc came off and it was then easy to change the stud.
Trouble is as you do one job you find another. Having a look around with the wheel off and I found a fracture in one of the chassis welds so it's something else to be done.
