Guys, noticed yesterday and confirmed by Carl, Milner have full replacement wiper linkages in stock. We all know that they go a bit loppy. It's usually the liners in the turrets that wear out and then the alloy casting starts to wear away and then the spindle goes all 'Wobbly Bob' on you. They are £80 + vat. Getting the old ones out is easy enough, but the bolts holding them in 3x 6mm in each, just snap off. So you'll need some new bolts. But your wipers will be like new ones. I have good turrets, but the plastic liner inside has worn away inside and the spindles sort of weather vane around inside making the wipers skip sometimes.

Now - the left and right turrets are interchangeable and the linkages are generally fine, so you you could split a set with a mate and simply have a new turret each. I don't know why, but it's usually the driver's side that goes. £40 plus vat to fix your busted wipers?

No I don't have shares in Milner (and they have their faults) but spreading the word on essential bits like this is what the forum is for.

Thanks for this Chris - just what Muxley needs!!!

Are they genuine parts or a copy?

The drivers side wears out quicker because you use it more than the other side. ;)

Ahh Paul, wise words in deed. Oh hang on ..... Damn! You got me

Hey, Gav, here's an idea - why don't you ring them? No wait, I'll do it.. NOT.

Sorry mate I can't tell you. Would they be any better if they were?

Chris

They wont be genuine gav, There about 200 quid a yota.

 Jeesh, thats rather a lot of wedge - cheers dude

Currently Muxley's passenger blade is held in place by a carefully positioned cable tie so... At least it is actually in contact with the screen since the 'modification'...

Hey, nice to see you on here BTW - where's yah been hiding?

Va bene

This is good news as I have recently got a quote from a Toyota dealer £188.59 including vat and delivery. For those of you that have seen how bad my wiper linkages are, (the wipers have about 40 degrees of play in them) is this an MOT failure? Make a rather amusing noise when in use, you can feel it in the pedals sometimes, its so bad that I am sacred to use them and end up "rationing" their use. Got an MOT due very soon...

Once they get dodgy like that Rob they also put a lot of extra load on the motor. With the new links they'll be whizzing!

I think I shall have a set in the cupboard too. For a rainy day. Rainy day - get it? Hey I made a funny. Almost

Chris

Yeah I know Chris, hence the rationing and general lack of use of the landcruiser when its wet

mine are sloppy as - i end up wiping the bonnet most of the time.
got a second hand set on their way to me (hopefully) if these dont work then i'll be straight on to milners

Not sure on this but Muxley's passenger side wiper hadn't touched the screen for ages & it was [strike:4gbw9cpq]bodged[/strike:4gbw9cpq] repaired with a cable ties while he was in for his MOT...

I think I'll be ordering a set today

Well apparently I got the last one, ill let you guys know if it is any good.

bugger!

anyone got a good passenger side one up for grabs?

There is only one that does both sides. Im sure they will have some more soon seeing how quickly they sold out.

Well, I played that badly didn't I. I was going to pop over today to pick one up. Should have done that before I put the word out. Bit of an own goal there methinks.

Glad it helps you chaps out. Be sure to post an update on quality / fittment when they arrive.

Chris

I did see them a on their website earlier this week but it was listed as out of stock, so I was genuinely looking for one Chris, I promise :p

Will definitely report back on the quality Chris, they said its non genuine but any wiper linkage that manages to move the wipers in any way whatsoever have to be better the my current ones so I got nothing to loose.

Well done buddy - your need is greater than most!!! Hopefully they'll get some more in before mine packs up completely...

I mailed Carl this morning and told him to get his skates on. Also made comment about this site and our willingness to 'go Milner' as long as service, price and quality are guaranteed.
Getting genuine parts in is especially helpful now that we don't have our own specialist in that field. We'll always need second hand parts but in relation to service items, cheap isn't always what we want. If they could get, for example, genuine filters at better prices that would be good. Seals too. ABS sensors and good CVs would be useful. So I have asked if there is someone I can speak to and see if we can't get something going. Copy parts also have their place, maybe for 'fix 'n flog' but that's not generally what we are about. A dual range could be one suggestion giving people an alternative. Maybe an ideal parts list thread would help. I will go to see them if they are interested. OK they stock a bundle of stuff already, but if it sells, then why wouldn't they keep it in.

I seem to remember we did start a thread on which parts are good and which aren't. If we are disciplined about keeping the thread tidy, would it be something of value in order to get US more, better parts?
