The Iceland fleet of Lorries use something very similar on their passenger windows & they give the driver a good view towards the ground.

They do actually work but I found the ones on the coaches that are flexi and stick to the glass are better.
Mind you, it's a bloody long way to look back from the drivers seat in a coach
When I was HA we were giving them to foreign truckers so they could see down what is our offside as there were so many side swipes with cars in their blind spots.

I had one of those stick to the glass ones, as far as I can remember they worked OK, but I ended up throwing it away because mould had formed between plastic and glass obscuring any vision. I did try cleaning it but the mould didn't want to come off, it seemed to have grown into the plastic.
