Shocks & springs for a 60

It's seems likely that I will drive my HJ60 to Niger and sell it
later this year for a bit of a laugh. I'll be going across Tunisia
and Algeria and then into Niger.
The current springs are shot, and the shocks look like they are on
their last legs.
As I'm going to sell it I don't won't to spend too much on kitting it
out, but I have some paying passengers, and the Sahara isn't a great
place for break downs.
The options seem to be:
1, Replace with new Toyota - but far to expensive
2, replace with ome - but far too expensive
3, Replace with Milner springs and shocks - cheap enough but unknown
quality?
4, Find some 2nd hand 60 kit - might be cheap?
Can anybody suggest any other options, or comment on those above (1 &
2 are ruled out)?
Cheers, Darrin
(ps: Space available if you want to come - leaving mid October for
6-8 weeks)

Darrin,
Option 5 - get as far as you can on tarmac, then buy Toyota parts
locally - it's a lot cheper than in Europe. In Bamako two front
shocks cost me CFA 93 485 (ca UKP 100). Each major city has a well
stocked tyota dealership.
I have some new or very little used shocks I bought there as
replacement parts. Maybe you can identify if they'd fit your LC:
Front:

48511-60482 BH2
Rear: 48531-60371 BB3

Thanks Roman, but the ones I have are completely shot, it's extremely
bumpy driving around London. I've tried painted the springs with
diesel to get something oily inbetween the leaves, but it hasn't made
much difference, so I'll need to sort them out before leaving...

Cool, that's a good recommendation. They are quite cheap: =A335.25 for gas shocks and =A365.80 for a spring kit
OK, thanks, will bare in mind.
That's what I thought. There are many other things to go wrong, but
at least it won't be the shocks or springs, and I'll be able to drive over speed humps in the UK at more than 2mph in the meantime.
Many thanks - always good to have the ability to bounce ideas about...

In the past whenever we put fitted new leaf springs we would replace the U
bolts (and nuts) if at all possible, right about being rusted beyond
recognition, I had to cut all bar one nut on the rear of my pickup.

I think need to see if they sell 40 series springs, they don't seem to list
them on the web site if they do though.
