sterering wheel removal.

Anyone know how the steering wheel comes off .....

or more specifically ... how does one go about removing the drivers airbag so the wheel can be removed??

airbag is disconnected at both the airbag ecu and steering column

I read a fair bit about air bags before removing the steering wheel on my 90 to swap a stalk and the be all and end all of my research was disconnect the battery and go have a cuppa , give it half hour just to be sure all residue electricity is gone and that's it you can unplug it once the wheel is off .

airbag is already disconnected ...and has been for the last week.

just can't see how to get inside the wheel to remove the airbag ..

Carl. Each side of the wheel there is a small plastic cover. One side the cruise stalk goes through the little cover. Flick the cover out then you will see a hex bolt I think it is. Obviously there is one on the opposite side. Undo them both then the air bag will pop out.
