Stuck Headrest!

Hello!

I have a 2000 landcruiser and the center rear headrest is stuck in the down position. Yes, I have attempted to use the button. As well as brut force. I'm wondering if there is a trick. Maybe the headrest is in some sort of lock mode due to it being pushed ALL the way down. Or maybe the release lever button is not longer functional. Is there a bypass? Any tips would be much appreciated!!
