The driving ban starts when they get your licence. When they receive it, they put a sticker on it and send it back to you. If you don't send in your licence within 4 months, next time you drive in Germany and they catch you, you can get up to 1 year jail.
SpeedingSo Chas, what did you do?
His licence has not been revoked. Chas can still drive even with any or all his licence en route to Frau Schneider!!
It's not the credit card bit but the paper bit they require Clive. This is the reason we've had to retain the paper bit as well as the new credit card style photocard.OK, but I still feel that this “sticker” is out of kilter with a credit-card type Licence.
Where are they going to stick it anyway? And when it falls off one week later?
I don't think that's possible Clive, even in HMS Phoenix!Speeding on the autobahn no doubt...
Sorry Chas, I know it’s not funny...
So from that it seems the ban is only enforced in Germany not in the UK?I was going to PM this Chas, but seeing as the cat's out the bag…
"Penalty notice of 15.11.2017; driving ban Dear Mr. Spencer, against the fines decision above, valid since 15.12.2017, a driving ban for the duration of I month (s) was ordered against you in addition to the determination of the fine. They were granted a period of 4 months from the date of the order for a fine to enforce the driving ban. This means that you must have submitted your driver's license here by 15.04.2018 at the latest. Pursuant to S 25 (3) StVG, the driving ban must be stated in a foreign driver's license. We will enter the driving ban with a sticker in your driver's license and then send it back to you. We point out that you can no longer drive a motor vehicle from the above date, within the Federal Republic of Germany (regulations of other nations remain unaffected). If you do it anyway, you commit a crime punishable by S 21 StVG imprisonment up to one year or a fine. In the event of a traffic accident, you could suffer serious disadvantages regarding insurance claims settlement. Furthermore, we would like to remind you that the prohibition period will only be counted from the day on which you present your driver's license here. The timely submission is therefore in your own interest so as not to unnecessarily prolong the period of prohibition. Best regards On behalf cutter This letter was created automatically and is valid without a signature."
Basically you can't drive in Germany until one month after your licence receives their sticker!
I can't see what the alleged offence was though.
Sh*t still seems to be happening I'm sorry to say.![]()

Correct. Mildly inconvenient though if you'd decided to drive through Germany before receiving this letter though (1 year at Frau Merkel's pleasure!!So from that it seems the ban is only enforced in Germany not in the UK?
Many thanks for your translation Rich, that was a great help, at least I know what they are on about now.His licence has not been revoked. Chas can still drive even with any or all his licence en route to Frau Schneider!!

I would imagine only they could answer that. If in doubt declare it I suppose otherwise it could turn round and bite you on the bum! Many thanks for your translation Rich, that was a great help, at least I know what they are on about now.
I wonder if a foreign ban needs to be declared to my insurers?
Hmmm, I remember this now, I wonder if this is some sort of scam? I mean it looks pretty genuine to me but these scams can be very convincing.I thought the paper counterpart was no longer required Chas.
