Using the rear recovery point on an auto 150

Reading the manual for my 150 it says that you should not use the rear tow point on an auto. Does this mean not use at all? Is it OK to tow backwards out of a sticky situation if the car is being driven in reverse at the same time??

Any hints here gratefully received as I would have thought that I am more likely to need a tow backwards that forwards if i get really stuck somewhere...
