Video editing software

After recent trip there is hours of footage and hundreds of photos so wondered what a good software would be to put it all together with some music (i will check if its suitable first les ) Have used various programs in the past but advice always welcome.
Free would be good

Or one of the geeks on here could fire up their pc and i will come round with all the stuff.

A bit of a distance for me to bring my stuff but i use Sony Vegas and Adobe Premier.

I have used Premier for years but find Vegas easier to produce decent results quickly

For images, why not make a book

Have a look at Blurb.com, the software is free and easy to use and the final book (You can print just 1) is great quality or you can allow others to buy it (profit to yourself)
