Wheel Nuts

Hi

Can anyone tell me why some wheels have tapered seat nuts and some have flat.

Can you use either on the same studs.

Not sure why but you can certainly use them on the same studs.

For example the older 12V 80's used tapered nuts and the newer 24V used flats. The Colorados/Prados all use flat nuts.

The alloys will have holes/seats to accommodate each type of nut - so you can't mix and match AFAIK.

I'm sure someone that knows what they're talking about will come along soon and give a fuller explanation!

Tapered wheel nuts fit into corresponding tapers in the wheels.

Nuts with shoulders fit into 'shoulders' in the wheels.... can you see a pattern developing here

If you use tappered nuts on wheels with shoulders chances are it will come off.... the same with shouldered nuts on tappered wheels.

Now I know why your wheel fell off in Morocco

I would just stick to playing with wood if I was you

What I was trying to say was is the a difference in the studs between those trucks with tapered wheel nuts and flat wheel nuts.

But by all accounts there is not as long as you use the right nuts with the right wheels.

Anyone used this firm for replacement wheel nuts.
