Has anyone got any experience of non toyota window regulators?

even after a good clean of the runners=2C my N/S front window is still painfully slow- are the milners or ebay ones worth it?

I did hear a rumour (from stef i think) that the motors from the rear o/s can be swapped with the front n/s- anyone know if this is true?

I got one for the drivers door from Autojapspares, it's still slightly slow
but it has been working OK for about a year now.

Hi James,
Swapping the motors can make a bit of difference, but you really need
to approach it in the following way..
Clean the window rubbers as well as you can, ideally using something
like Armoral's rubber cleaner and then apply a 'dry lube' style
silicone based lubricating spray.
At the same time, take out the door switches and strip them down and
clean the contacts. In most cases you can just need a fine file or a
bit of emery paper to clean off the carboon deposits.
You could also take out the motors, strip those and clean the contacts.
Whilst you are at it also clean off any of the old grease from the
winder assembly and then spray on dry lube again - you can use some
white grease or something similar, however beiing wet these will
attract dust and gum up quite quickly.
If you then still need to improve things and need to spend some money,
you should spend it on replacing the window rubbers - it is the
hardening of these and their movement, particulary at the bottom of the
frames that is constricting on the glass causing the slow down.
Once you have replaced the rubbers, if you are still not happy with the
speed of the windows then consider replacing the motors, assuming that
you found have already stripped and checked them and found them to be a
bit worn.

Hey Jules=2C

OK done all that- on the the drivers side its like having new windows- cleaned the runners out- one thing that i found works excpetionally well here is "Wonder Wheels" the stuff you use for cleaning alloy wheels- it cust through all the grease and dirt exceptionally quickly but the butyl rubber underneath is pretty much impervious- just make sure you wash the residue off!

Used spray silicon lubricant on all the runners.

Cleaned all the contacts on both sides- Screwfix sells some contact cleaner (its delivery only) for =A34.69 (http://www.screwfix.com/search.do=3...yncharset=3DUTF-8&fh_search=3Dcontact+cleaner) that works exceptionally well- dissolves the cardon off in front of your eyes and leaves everything sparkly clean.

One problem i found with the window rubbers is taht they are almost too wide for the glass now- the glass is starting to wobble!

Considering the above i'm going to end up replacing the motors at some point i think- when funds allow of course- so i'm looking for the best value items!

Cheers

Jim
