Got a pair of unused 80 alloys a while back that had some lacquer lifting. Then got a pair of the best that Karl had so I took the plunge and had them refurbished over the weekend.

Turned out pretty nice I thought… ImageUploadedByTapatalk1443466278.667309.jpg

The company was Spit N Polish through my local tyre fitters.

I know, I and the guys in the tyre fitters were surprised at HOW good they came out.

Just shows what can be done.

I think they are actually better than the factory product, in fact speaking to the refurbishes they know them well and know what they do is a superior coating.

Well pleased. [emoji3]

Must admit they look good, bet you can't wait to get them fitted.

Do you mind telling us the cost Rich?

Are they polished then a lacquer coat?

£60 plus VAT per wheel I was quoted. Which I didn't think bad. Then there's tyre mounting of course.

Yes, powder coat, diamond (I think) cut, then powder coat lacquered. The colour I went for was Anthracite which has a bit of a sparkle and boy do they look good. [emoji4][emoji4]

Look very posh, i don't think i'd be letting my wife out in mine if i had them on.:icon-biggrin:

Agreed, I just had to put them up here to show what can be done with a pair of wheels from you compared to a brand new pair both refurbed.

Having them diamond cut and lacquered gives them a factory look, when you let us know "where" they were done they will be overwhelmed with a deluge of 80 wheels.

Spit N Polish Andy, ring them up and see where to drop them off local to you, then they do a round, pick them up and 4 or so days later and no hassles you get your wheels. Simples! [emoji6]

Very nice. I'd like to do some of those but have a shadow low-light done in the cut outs. Marius had some like that and they just looked stunning.

They're looking really smart Rich, well impressed!

I've had one of my sets of steels refurbed, grit blasted and electro-painted. Trouble is, they've come up a lot lighter than the charcoal colour I wanted, so I'm horsing them back in for a darker coat.

Great looking finish. I was hunting around for prices and found a place around an hours drive from me. When I arrived the price had gone up from 50 euros per wheel to 70, typical occurrence as the Spanish think the English are rich. I decided no, not so much at the price but his arrogance pi**ed me off.

Had a chat with the president of the local 4x4 club, left the wheels with him. He had them posted to Portugal, sand blasted, painted and lacquered, they were then packed and sent back....200 euros the lot!

I purchased new nuts and centre caps and I am very happy with the result, the Spanish have a strange business ethic that's for sure.

regards

Dave

Nice.

Keep an eye on the tyre fitter. Dont let the kids fit them. Tell them to handle them like a new born child. When told by one of the scrot.. i mean "fitters" that, " it wont go on mate cos youve had them coated and now there thicker see" then when he wonders off, and in the mean time youve fitted the two unfittable wheels yourself, try to refrain from beating him with with a tyre lever. If you do all of these things you might just get away with a few scrapes on your loverly new rims...

Wow CG…you got history there!!

As it happens, they are already fitted and the refurb was done through the tyre fitters. I've used them for years. They're a small business in a really old building you can just about drive into and through the other side with flats above. I actually helped the guy fit them as his back was bad. He was so careful and because the refurb was done through them it was all paid at the end. If they had trashed them they knew they wouldn't be paid without putting it right…and I know that would have been voluntarily.

Support the independents if you can, they usually look after their customers.

Glad you got them fitted without issues.

They are independent, used them for years for my tyres.
