Guys today ran a unexpected expedition to attach and drive my cousins yaght over the mountain from nicosia to Kyrenia.

There we backed up to unattach the yaght from the trailer to the sea at the marina.

Was interesting to see how the car performed considering I've never towed anything before let alone something of this size & weight.

Driving up the mountain towards the end shifting gear from drive to second trying to keep the revs around 2500 rpm for optimum performance only experienced the gearbox ATF light coming on at the end of the hill then on the other side driving down the brakes heated up to smell a little. This was not helped that being a one off the trailers brakes were not connected to the hitch so that was understandable. That saying was pretty impressed with seeing torque of the vehicle pulling so well.

Once at the marina we backed down to unload in the water.

Shortly after the yaght was home in the water to enjoy.

Yes they are power houses, I have towed a more than a few trailers in my time and the 80 series is a very impressive tow vehicle.

Dont give that back end a dip dervis..

Nice one Dervis, and on the last point, never dip the truck in the sea, leave that to boats, fish and land rovers....

Thats an interesting note Mike as Andy Misses is from Cyprus too. Saw them both when they visited in December 2016.

You ever visited Cyprus?

Theres always a first time for everything Mike so you never know. No too far from the Uk around 4.5 hrs with the weather here generally warm 9 months of the year.
