Buying suggestions for trailer axle please

My plan at some point is to use the rear half of a hilux/navara/l200 and turn it into a trailer, ready set up for big wheels, hydraulic brakes and built in lights. Would something like that suit shayne. Mick

    My LC has been vandalised...........

Very strange alright, nitromors generally tends to crinkle the paint it's lifting, brake fluid no longer has the additives in it to lift paint. If it was vandalism I would love to kick the heart and soul out of the fucker that did it. Mick

    My LC has been vandalised...........

It looks just like normal toyota lacquer lifting to me but as you say it's all of a sudden it must be something else, was there any residual liquid left on the bonnet Mick

    Chassis treatment help please.

Why not get it galvanised, reasonably cheap and will ensure it will last forever. Mick

    Diff Oils Different

If you spin one wheel the other should spin in the same direction if you have an lsd, if it spins.opposite direction you have an open/locker diff.

    90 series

Only chance you have of getting a swb auto to find a Japanese import prado, advantage of that is they have the intercooler version of the 3.0 litre 1kzte or newer d4d lump. Either one won't be very easily found, would the budget go as far as an early 120 series, lot more autos then.
  28. cavanmick

    90 series

Not so bad, know a few lads down that way, why are you thinking of converting? You having bother with the auto box.

Where in Ireland are ya buddy?

    90 series

Would be a fair bit of bother, would need pedal box clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder, possibly drive shafts are different too. I think it has been spoken about but no one has bothered doing it..

Help Please, my 2002 Colorado cuts out randomly. It's a mystery?

Simple way to test it is to use a jump lead from the negative of the battery to somewhere on the engine and check if it will cut out again.

Help Please, my 2002 Colorado cuts out randomly. It's a mystery?

As someone said earlier in the thread I reckon it's an earth issue, when you put on all the consumables it steals the earth from something important, be well worth removing them and cleaning up all the contact points.

    Hedgehog - LC100 build thread

Lawn rollers have them as standard, can't be too difficult to mod one to fit on the back of an 80, might catch the rust infection though....lol

    Coolant loss help please

I can't speak for certain about the Toyota version but on pajeros you just could not use the gasket from a milners (or any other)kit or you would have the head off again within three months.it had to be oe or Victor reinz, might work perfectly on a Toyota but if it was me I would not take the...

    Coolant loss help please

Just my opinion but I would recommend only using an oe head gasket and not the miners one, jus to worth the risk, use the rest of the kit for all the other gaskets but I would not use the head gasket.

    winch bumpers and cooling

It also could be down to wiring buddy, I rewired all my gauges last week and the gauge sits steady at 81 degrees now where before it used to fluctuate between 80 and 100. Gave them a separate earth and made sure all the wiring get had good connections.

    Transmission Noise

Very easy done and works well as long as you don't spray it on the clutch itself, spray it towards the middle of the bell housing and it should hit where it's meant to.
  41. cavanmick

    Transmission Noise

The release bearing on mine gets noisy every few months, PO fitted it dry so it chirps every now and again, I get a straw and some we 40 and take off the bellows at the clutch fork and spray it onto the bearing with engine running and all goes quiet again for another few thousand miles.
  42. cavanmick

    Transmission Noise

In my experience the noise on a release bearing goes away when you press the pedal, that's why it's there most of the time when driving except when changing gear.

    Airbag light

Thanks Bob and shayne, I will take the battery leads off this morning in work and leave them for an hour or so, had thought about joining the leads alright so will try that and see how we get on, thanks again lads.
  44. cavanmick

    Transmission Noise

Does it make the same noise at a standstill or only when driving, if it is doing when stopped it's the release bearing.

    Airbag light

Yeh horn works perfect bob, that was why I changed it in the first place, PO had changed the steering rack and broke the ribbon in the process, ribbon I fitted to it looks perfect but airbag light is still flashing.

Hummer Brakes may be of interest

I wouldn't quite say I need it, there us very little out there I haven't driven I'm just saying from having no abs on my cruiser I think it could be a little nicer with it, I haven't driven a 90 series with abs so can't make a like for like comparison.

Hummer Brakes may be of interest

Would be worth getting the fluid changed and get a set of good quality pads in there and once the system is well minded it should work very well, mine is a lwb with no back seats and no abs but even with the load sensing valve adjusted it's a bit giddy in the back when you stick it to the road...
  49. cavanmick

Hummer Brakes may be of interest

Have you ever had the fluid changed etc, yours is a shortie so should have pretty good brakes.
  50. cavanmick

Hummer Brakes may be of interest

I would think you would run into difficulties with insurance if you deliberately disable the abs buddy.
