A few differences.
But I think Toyota are perhaps being economical with the fuel consumption figures for the 100 series?
Stating a combined of 26,6 mpg for the 100 series, and 31,4 mpg for the 120 series.

.
The 120 engine being more efficient

The 100 series needs 28cc to develop 1kW
The 120 series needs 23cc to develop 1kw

All this imaged stuff is from the Toyota bumf.

Yes but a 120 isn't a "proper" Land Cruiser is it ;)

You're comparing two completely different animals, the 120 is a light duty truck, 100 is Heavy duty.

I would imagine most people who decide that they want or need a proper Heavy duty Cruiser are not overly concerned about saving a few litres of fuel.
