Nearly there now, waiting for a few little bits to arrive, then ready for first start up.

This was my thing in the day, a rebuilt engine regardless of marque, painted and polished just looked so f*ecking good! I had three particular loves, the later 1600 crossflow (711M block bored to 85mm giving 1,700cc), BLF 22 cam (BLF 18 was no good for around town, twin 40 Webers, then the Rover all aluminum V8 (I put into an Escort Mk1 and later in a Granada Mk1, it was the early engine from the 'Prime Minister's' model, 5* fuel was disappearing so I sorted that by mixing in high octane remote controlled aeroplane fuel) and the 5.3 V12 which stayed in the Jaguar but somehow managed to find itself bored to 6.0, camed, air intakes you could put an arm in, modified 4.2 injectors (from the XJ6) with a custom fuel injection ECU....oh and mated to a Getrag 5 speed manual gearbox! TWR rear end along with a TWR quick rack, the fule tanks linked and run via a fuel cooler to the engine, found out later you cannot park it on a kerb with both tanks full as it would syphon out the fuel! I loved this machine. I am a lover of 'sleepers' and apart from the wheels and if you did not know the XJ-C did not come with a manual gearbox, then you had no idea, the 3" exhaust dumping behind the rear wheels but the 'S' tubes of the stock 1.5" outlets not connected to the engine but kept the car looking stock, somehow there was also a 'roll control' button hidden in the chrome ashtray, my step daughter and I would go out in the evenings looking for 'victims' and racing for money, now I seem to recall using that car at North Weald drag strip near where we lived....or was that a dream running 13's.......no surely not I must have been dreaming? The Jaguar and my present 80 (the longest I have ever owned any car) those three cars have to have been the highlight of my car ownership, the Jaguar though.....phew!

Sorry Mike, reminiscing there, keep up the good work and yes a first time start would be good, I still have the camera's point at my 80's empty engine bay waiting for the install. :)

Stay safe.

Regards

Dave

Almost time to change the big end bearings lol.

Frank....Frank...you really need to keep your finger on the pulse mate, Mike has agreed to come over with it and install it into my 80, he drove a hard bargain though, three toffee's, two pieces of pocket fluff and four nights free .....note FREE food and lodgings......dog was not impressed with sharing her kennel though, and even more upset about him using her food bowl!

Regards

Dave

Oh, you won't be able to torque up the crank bolt on the engine stand. It will pull the lot over.

I had to wedge the flywheel.
