Quick update, following the Iron Man suspension lift at the weekend i finally managed to get the 285s on tonight. Had to remove the front mud flaps and hammer the seam (think thats how you spell it ) in a bit but they quite well. It was dark when i finished so did not get any pictures taken. I will post them tomorrow. Very pleased with the results

Think i will try and get some spring spacers for the front to try and level the truck up a bit. Definitely sits higher at the back

GP. I'd let it settle first. They often start out like that. Put a bit of weight in the back. I don't think you'll have any success with spring spacers for the front unless you know someone who can make something custom for you. It doesn't work quite like that. Fat Bob makes spacers, I had a set. They work in quite a strange way. A 1" spacer gives you about 2" of lift. Remember that you have IFS not a beam axle. So when you put a spacer in it pushes the strut down, yes, but it also has to pivot on the lower wishbone. This results in a sort of multiplication of the lift spacer. You can only do so much of this when you have ALREADY put a lift on with the springs. The top wishbone will hit the springs.

You'd need someone to make pretty thin spacers up - maybe only 5 to 10 mm. Truth is that it shouldn't really be like that and it's worth having a quick mental and physical check through just to make sure that there isn't anything obvious that is causing this. IM suspension components are usually pretty well matched.

I have a mate who made some nice upswept rocksliders for the L200, he will be getting a call soon!

I do have a problem with the rocksliders, how can i make a step to fit a rockslider so the missus can get in and out still Wonder if i could fit a one of them fold down land rover steps to it and hopefully remember to take it off when i go offroad

That isn't a problem GP been done several times by different people. If you really want it as a step then you need to either plate the whole thing when you have done or at least put small flat sections on by the doors. The ones I make are tube and can be slippery, but then I'm not a girl and faff about getting in and out.

You can have functional and still pleasure the Missus. Oops, well you know what I mean. Cough.

Looking at those wheels, are they the correct wheel nuts ?.

They are off the alloys but they have a tappered head that fits snuggly into the wheel to hold it in the centre??? Are they not safe to use???

They are only temporary, i assume the steel wheel nuts will have the same head, just minus the washer?

Interesting that you had to remove the mud guards & bash the footwell seem back, as I have done nothing more than fit the KM2's onto Fiery touching nothing else with no rubbing including leaving the OME mud guards fitted And there in we now see lay the difference between the 255's & the 285's

Why not make yourself a set of sliders like those that I bought from off of Chris, they work really well as an everyday item

Or maybe make a set that reuses the original side steps as a cover The chap that bought my Avon tyres that came from off of Fiery after the KM2's were fitted had made such a set (a reinforced OME side step if you like) but I can't remember his user name for the life of me He had a white 95 & was from SA, soon to be going back,been living in London area, some sort of specialist teacher It'll come to me I'm sure

Thaks mate , i am pretty sure it is the width of the 285s that has caused the need for a bit of hammering !

I will get my fabricator mate to knock me up some rocksliders, i really liked the ones he made for the l200. I will get him to make a flat spot as Chris suggested for the missus to get in and out. (it is her daily drive )

Are you planning to "upgrade" your spare? - it seems to be the standard 265/70R16 job. If ever you need to use it, you may have issues with the other 3 wheels being so much larger....??? (sorry didn't want to put a downer on you - the truck really does look great, you've got me thinking about 285s now!! )

What is the offset of the wheels?

They are a zero offset mate, gun metal grey modulars. I am really pleased with how they look
