ABS / Anti Lock Brakes.

Just a thought. On "wiki" it says that 80's with ABS were fitted with a VC. Is there a connection between the two. Do the earlier full time 4wd 80's not have a VC?

Yes I think the early 80's did not have a VC and did not have ABS. I think the VC on later 80's worked with the ABS.

My 1995 GS has no ABS & I'm pretty sure it hasn't got the viscous coupling either.

The early 80's did'nt have VC's for sure, the 15" wheel variety I'll think you find. The later 16" ones did have VC's & ABS was an option/standard depending on the spec or country they were supplied to.
