Aircon belt tensioner

Can anyone help me with a partnumber(s) please.
I just changed the v-belt that drives the aircon compressor and noticed
that the tensioner assembly has ben 'bodged' at some time in the past. I
need a new one but Toyo claim not to know what I'm talking about.
Does anyone have the LC EPC and can look up the part numbers I need please.
Vehicle is an FZJ 80 petrol (obviously) 1995 VX Auto
It has the FZ-FE engine number 1FZ0178045
Chassis number is JT111UJ800700089
The part(s) I need is the aircon belt tensioner assembly along with any
associated fixing or adjusting bolts. It lives on the front face of the
block low down adjacent to the crank pulley.
Any assistance welcome.
Many thanks
Peter Browning

Pete,
I'll have a look though someone may beat me to it. In the unlikely event
it turns out to be the same as for our diesels your welcome to the one
off my 94 which is sitting with a pile of other "don't need that any
more" parts!
That reminds me, did I dump a load of wheel nuts on you a while ago or
did I dream it? I only ask because I came across a stash of wheel nuts
at the weekend and thought I'd got rid of them! Maybe they've been
breeding ...
Best Regards,
Jon.

Hi Jon
Wheelnuts - you must be conducting an intensive breeding program! I
removed all but two or three from your garage the last time I was there
as mine were not compatible with the wheels I bought off you if you
recall!! :)
No idea if the pulleys are the same. My local Toyo parts dept gave me
the usual 'dunno mate, if you can give me a part number I'll look it up
for you'!!
Hey ho

The EPC shows a part No. of 88440-26090 for the AC IDLE PULLEY ASSY
which is just the pulley and different to the HDJ80 part No but same PNC
No. The picture looks like the bracket the pulley mounts to is part of
the compressor mounting bracket (88431-60200) so not available on its
own. Doesn't give a part No. for the long bolt that goes through the
back of the pulley.
Which bit's broken Pete?
Best Regards,
Jon.

Hi Jon
There are two, and I'm not exactly sure what is part of the bodge and
what is OEM
The pully fits into a slot in its bracket that allows the pulley to
slide to adjust the belt tension. There is a bolt that clamps the pully
to the bracket and there is a longer adjusting bolt that is turned in
order to move the pulley up or down.
It *looks* as though something has broken in the dim and distant past
because the adjusting and securing bolts do not *look* OEM but more like
something bodged into place. Hence I'm not exactly sure what the
assembly *should* look like. The pully certainly sits at what looks to
me like a drunken angle and not vertical cf the plane of the belt.
Not being very helpful I know but unless I have an OEM assembly to
compare then I can't be sure what I'm looking at.
What's a PNC number BTW?

Hi Pete,
Sounds very similar to the diesel pulley arrangement. AFAIK the common
fault for that arrangement is that the long bolt into the block at the
back of the pulley gets stiff or seizes and then the long bolt becomes
bent.
What I have is:

I wouldn't be surprised if only the casting is different and the pulley
and long bolt etc would fit yours? Then again this is a motor
manufacturer we're talking about!
Best Regards,
Jon.

It looks amazingly similar, certainly a very similar design and same
operating principle... but of course I can't really tell until I have
the two side by side.
How mucho you wanto for it

Hi Pete,
You can have it for free, give it back if it doesn't fit, sound fair?
How desperate are you for it? I'd guess it weighs about 1Kg so postage
wouldn't be too bad, another option is I chuck it in the motor and wait
till I see you out and about again, or you can come fetch it :)
Best Regards,
Jon.

Morning Peter,
I have tried looking on my EPC and sods law the image of the aircon
pump refuses to display.
You say it is low down on the block - the one Jon has for an HDJ80 is
up on the top of the block and I doubt will be of much use.
Sorry I can't help more.

Hi Julian
Thanks for looking.
Yes, the compressor sits at about crank pully height on the petrol.
I will have a look at Jons pulley. It may only be the pulley itself I
need along with its attached adjuster bolts so we'll have a looksee.
Mine willm probably hold out for a few weeks and if it does drop off
then I'll have no aircon is all.
Thanks again.
Pete
