antenna mount - back wheel

Hi everybody,

i'm looking to a solution to mount a vhf antenna on my Kdj, in particular just over the rear wheel. I have seen a similar solution for a CB antenna mounted on a Suzuki, I had no sufficient time to see the exact mounting, but seemed that the coaxial cable was passing through the door in correspondence of the wheel supporting structure. I would really prefer not to drill the roof. Fact. Then, my principal concern is: has anyone experience of an antenna mounted on the wheel? Does it, at the very end, work, or SWR problems arise?

There was a thread about it a while back where someone did it IIRC. Can't seem to find it at the moment though.

I have an antenna mount on my UZJ100 on the rear wheel carrier. It's not a great place and I can easily tell the difference in performance vs my front bumper mount but for convoy work on the CB it's fine.
