I often seen these advertised in various tool brochures etc and thought they'd be helpful but never purchased.

Was testing a wiper washer fluid pump the other evening and thought one would be handy, the 12v supply appeals to me. But what other uses have they and what is a 3 or 4 circuit tester mean on the more expensive models? Anyone got any practical example of how one of the more expensive kits would be worth going for over the basic version? I'm sure the extra feature are good, I'm just not sure how they'd apply to me.

I'd mainly be looking to use one of these tools as a 12v power supply and for testing trailer tow bar sockets, etc... I notice on the packaging it states it can provide 12v supply "OR" ground. Can they supply both? IF i had a wiper washer pump removed from the vehicle can I use this tool to power it by it supplying the ground and power?

The power probs are amazing. As they allow you to energise circuits to test the components and the wiring separately. So as you asked yes you can have a wiper motor on the bench and test it as the tool provides both the neg and pos that you need.

As for trailer electrics I wouldn't do them without after using one.

They really are a great tool.
