Hi forum members - I have been trying to find specifications for 1993 Arkana 14 seater bus. Can anyone help point me to where I may find this information? Seem to be coming up with no detailed information to assess. Looking forward to some guidance and pointers for reliable information to review. Many thanks - boibele

I doubt we can help you here as this isn't a Toyota Arkana 14 seater bus forum fella.

It's just for Landcruisers. And given that the Arkana isn't a Cruiser derivative, you might have just about the same luck if you posted this on a VW Beetle forum.

Sorry Chap.

It looks similar to the Toyota Spectrum used as a taxi in South Africa,.......
you may have some luck approaching Toyota directly as I am sure your local Toyota dealer could get you some manuals for it.
good luck with your search.

I think Arkana were a vehicle conversion specialist in Oz a quick browse suggests the were contracted by Gov to kit out police vehicles and the like so there's a good chance there's an LC hidden under the bus .

Looks like it, they did long body bus conversions for mining companies and the government in Oz. Looks like the company has one bust but google reveals discussions on other 4x4 forums on them. Seems like the conversion bodies often outlasted the chassis/cab.

If they outlasted a LC they build must be rock solid :D

Chris - Thankyou for being the first to post a response to my question. Unfortunately this clearly demonstrates how little you know - chap. An Arkana is actually a Landcruiser that is a special modification done in Australia, so I doubt that posting this question on a VW beetle forum would be useful as you suggested - perhaps you should post on there to demonstrate your knowledge! Alas, I thought this may be a good place to try to source some useful information. Fortunately other posters at least took some time to research before they commented - thank you to those.

Thanks Shayne, they are indeed Oz specialist conversions - trying to source info on body specs.

Thanks Julian T for your response, I understand that the company that did the conversions are no longer in business, but will continue my search for info on the body specs here is Oz

Try doing a google search (although I'm sure you have) I found a few discussions on the internet and I'm sure somewhere there was some detail of someone who had contact with the family who owned the business. Recall seeing a thread on IH8Mud about them.

Oh and when you get your post count up post some pics of this rare beast, it'll edumacate us UK lot on weird/unique landcruisers

Hi Mark W, Yes indeed the beast is a LC powering it. A specialist body conversion done here in Oz, I am trying to source some body specs as the company went out of business some years ago. Thanks for your response and finding a fine example of a Landcruiser Arkana. They did them in 4 and 6 wheels!

We all make mistakes biobele the majority of forum members are from the UK so i hope you can forgive us for never having heard of a company on the other side of the world that went out of business years ago :icon-smile: Sounds like you've got a very rare cruiser indeed and i'm sure we would all like to hear more about it , is it based on a troopy ?

Thanks Shayne, I have no problems with mistakes - I make many, most of which I try to learn from! I was a little dismayed with the first response, but on forums, I guess this is not totally unexpected. I appreciate your comments and although I dont yet have one of these quite rare vehicles we are considering one, hence my initial request for information. I could have been a little more specific in retrospect that I was seeking information on the body conversions and wheel base. Considering as an option for 2 adults and 2 furry kids (Australian Kelpies). Looks like a number of these may have ended up in the US over the years too.

Thanks Mark W, I have done some internet searching previously and I have now also found some quite old contact info and names. Will pursue those to see if we can track down some body spec info. Many thanks

to be fair if you had stated that it was landcriser based you would have got a better responce. you hardly put any details in your first post so if you put in c$$p thats what you will get out.

Hi stumog, I can accept that, however, I thought posting for information on a landcruiser forum made that information redundant! My mistake, and as the other posters found, a relatively simple search before posting a response confirmed that it was a LC not a 'VW' - I have one of those also! I will in future try to be more specific. Don't wish to start an all out war, Peace is by far my preference!

when you ask for stuff for a coach built vehicle you have to state the body manufacture and also the chassis make and spec as these types of vehicles use alsorts cobbled together to get what they want.
i used to buy spares for a bus company and it was a nightmare trying to get the correct parts without all the info.

You know what, rather than try to steer you away from wasting your time asking a question that was unlikely to be answered on what clearly isn't the right place for that vehicle I should have said we'd get you an answer and left you waiting. But with an attitude like yours buddy why don't you just take your bus and go **** yourself with it?

A child of three could have looked at the forum sections and realised that it was unlikely to hold the details you were after. In fact if you'd bothered to read carefully you'd have also seen that we ask you to do an introduction to yourself to start with which you chose to ignore. I'm sorry to VW owners that I'd suggest that you go and ask there because you clearly don't know your ass from you elbow to come on a new forum and start bad mouthing people. Strikes me that you came here just looking to be a smart arse in the first place. I googled Arkana in images and all I got was a mixture of pictures of old buses. Quite how I was expected to pick out your exact vehicle from that lot is a mystery. I was lucky to deduce it was a Toyota in the first place.

Hope you get what you came for and apologies for not being a freakin' mind reader. But given the body detail you are after isn't actually Toyota then my original response stands.
