Blue will be the new burgundy

I guess the blue will be more fashion neutral, as millions of these new passport holders queue up outside embassies in London waiting days to get their visa stamps to travel into EU.

A 4 day trip to france will now mean a 6 days offwork plan. 2 of which need to be 15 days in advance.

Good news though, everyone across England now gets to come spend a day or two in the city everytime they travel abroad!

And only £490M to redesign them.
I'm guessing that's to replace them Rob, not just the redesign, and seeing as they now need renewing every 10 years and are only being changed at renewal, surely this is just the ongoing cost of issuing passports, and even then we have to pay £72.50 for the renewal, so The Guardian looks to be slightly misleading with that figure. I could have redesigned it for £20 for them as it's hardly a major revamp is it?

The Guardian just mentioned the figure, it was me who inaccurately said redesign. There was nothing stopping us having a blue passport while we were in the EU of course. Red was just a recommendation.

I think one of the other countries has a blue one. Lithuania perhaps? Can't remember.

Great news!

I've just renewed mine but theres no way I'm waiting 10 years to get a British Blue one that doesnt say EU on the front!

I guess if I had the misfortune to loose it after the new ones come in, I'd get one of the new Blue ones. :shifty:

There would be a charge though, I mislaid mine once and needed a replacement I had to pay something but I can't remember how much.

£72.50 or £82.50 if you use the Post Office.

Maybe it should have been grey

Or a khaki colour reminiscent of Swiss armed neutrality 1939 - 1945

So we could have kept the blue passports.
Guy Verhofstadt, the European Parliament's chief Brexit negotiator and a leading European federalist tweeted: 'There is no EU legislation dictating passport colour. The UK could have had any passport colour it wanted and stay in the EU.'
I do rather think dear ol' Guy may have missed the point somewhat…! It wasn't the colour of the passports we were voting on!

Does anyone really care what colour it is, it's just a tool to use for travelling

I think the choice of colour was well before the Brexit vote.
