Body lift and steering shaft

Does anyone have any experience of lengthening or adjusting the steering shaft following a 2" or greater body lift on an 80 to stop it hitting the body?

If so, any advice/guidance as to how/what to do would be appreciated as my steering shaft is practically resting on the body and has destroyed what I presume was originally some sort of a rubber seal (where shaft enters bulkhead). Also should there be some movement in the shaft - it appears to have some up and down movement when grabbed and shaken.

Ive done a 1.5 body lift on mine
i moved mine slightly on the front splines
And yes mine does foul on the bulk head
One day i will buy a new column rubber and make up a new relocation fixing plate
