Chassis problems.

Hi all my swb 90 is about to undergo some chassis repairs I understand it’s a common problem. What I was wondering has anyone come across anywhere you can buy chassis sections or anywhere that even sell good second hand chassis. I’m hoping to find something a little more straight forward that poking cutting and welding.

Scrapyard maybe? We have specialist 4WD ones here but depending on how basic the section you need is you might not need to stick to just the 90 series, the 70 Prado and 120 may be similar in places.

I understand it’s a common problem

It certainly is a problem as there aren't any repair sections available that I'm aware of. Apart from sourcing from a dry climate scrapyard and having sections sent over, for which you will have to really love your Collie. This is the reason there are 90 and 95's stood all over the place on driveways with owners pondering what to do with them. The problem is that the chassis rust from the inside out as there isn't adequate drainage holes in them.

I had a galvanised chassis from Richards a few years ago when I rebuild my LR V8 Ninety, very well made and everything fitted. Definitely a shame they don’t do one for the LC.
Luckily my Collie 95 has a mint chassis due to spending a lot of its time in Portugal.
