I removed this Odyssey PC1500DT AGM battery from off of Swampy when I bought her as the terminals are round the wrong way for the near-side battery and fitted my recently purchased Numax battery to her instead. I believe the Odyssey battery to be a good battery in terms of life. I have given it a good trickle charge over a 24Hr period and since then have used it on the truck and also to power my T-Max compressor in the workshop. It still holds a good charge even after a number of weeks. It was first sold in June 2010 according to it's label, so is three and a half years old. The Odyssey blurb suggests a service life of six to eight years for one and I wouldn't have said that this ones had a hard life. They sell for in excess of £200 when new!!!

I've found this tech blurb about the battery here:

  • CCA: 880A at 0°F (-18°C)
  • CA/MCA: 1,050 at 32°F (0°C)
  • HCA: 1,250A at 80°F (27°C)
  • Reserve capacity: 135 minutes
  • Short circuit current: 3,100A
  • Deep cycling capability: 400 at 80% DOD
  • Design life: 12 years
  • Typical service life: 6 to 8 years
  • Operation temperature range: -40°F(-40°C) to 176°F(80°C)

I just took a voltage reading from off of the battery to demonstrate how well it is and got a reading of 12.47Volts, about 85% charged. Not bad considering it last received a charge nearly 9 weeks ago over the weekend of the 26/27th October. Since then it was on the truck for a week and was used to start it 3 or 4 times just to move the truck, so no significant charging. It has run the lights while I refitted and checked the new tow bar electrics and the radio and interior lights while I was working on the truck over that week. I then removed it and it's stood doing nothing except to be used for about 15/20 minutes to power my T-Max compressor (heavy load of 45Amps) for pumping up tyres and testing and cleaning my ARB front locker.

I'm happy that this is a very good quality battery with plenty of life left in it :icon-biggrin:

ONLY £75.00!!! I must be mad  :icon-razz: :icon-smile:

I should just leave it in the shed as a spare and keep it topped up occasionally  :icon-wink:

:text-bump: STILL FOR SALE :icon-biggrin:

Must be a good'un, nine days since I last tested it and it still sits at 12.47Volts :icon-biggrin:

Used it to test my new voltage indicators :icon-smile:

So, gave it another top up trickle charge at the beginning of January with the thought that I'll keep it myself just in case and that was nearly five months ago!

I don't need it and am going to stick it on ebay if anyone wants it shout up and I'll bring it to Lincomb for you :)

Stuck a meter on it and it's lost next to no voltage over this time, so screams to me as being a good'un :)
