I have a 2004 TOYOTA Landcruiser 100 series Auto turbo diesel, have owned it from NEW it has 250,00 klms on the clock, it has developed a vibration ONLY under load, either on acceleration or towing, at first thought it may have been a universal problem so replaced all 4 uni joints also CV shafts & has not improved the vibration.
Next with the diff in mind drained the oil to find only small amounts of metal ( matchstick size) I have now pulled the diff out & have found no deterioration of any of the gears or running parts inside the diff.
Not sure where to turn next if it could be gearbox??
Has anybody out there experienced any of these problems, your feedback would be grateful.

Welcome Peter,

Could the matchstick size metal be from the bearing cage which has collapsed?

Hi Peter and welcome.
The presence of metal is somewhat disturbing.

Maybe Worn out engine and/or gearbox mounts could also cause vibration ?
