Iceland 2015

Yeah, me too, we'll have to plan a trip for us when we come in August.

Yeah Chas, I feel an Iceland 2020 thread in the making

Any date earlier than that is a bit like asking a woman to have a baby in 6 instead of 9 months, whatever you do to shorten the time, it still won't happen!

Thats why it's on my bucket list and not on my imminent trips list :icon-rolleyes: bugger, damn! I wish....

But, we can have fun talking about it in anticipation.

Progressed along the south coast today westwards, it was a day of cool glaciers and some more waterfalls.
Unfortunately many of the highland trails are still closed due to snow...

Love the pics Andy. Love that rally truck too [emoji4]

Yup, 4 defenders and 1 disco. And on Toyota side: a troopy, an 80 and 2 Hilux
So we are outnumbered 5 to 4 lads, Chin up I say

Hope you've got your tow ropes then Andy, bound to have a Landy on the back at some point. [emoji6]

There's a trail that runs right through the centre of Iceland - about 140km without any civilisation at all if I remember right... runs North/South - I'll find the references if anyone is interested. Awesome place :)

Yes im interested, gathering what i can for a trip in the next couple of years.

Same here. This is going to be high on the list of must do trips.

Many highland trails still blocked by snow... :(

Had another good day with some interesting geology and visit to a plane wreck - a DC3 Dakota that ran out of fuel and crash landed in 1973.

Then an adventure in the afternoon heading into the interior. With progressively deeper fords, but we turned back at a ford after the 80, troopy and other Hilux crossed it. It was deep and fast flowing and rocky. Disco in our group has no snorkel, so we turned around. With 6 deeper fords beyond it was sensible decision.
The rivers rise during the day as the sun melts the snow and glaciers, then levels drop at night.

Looks like an amazing trip Andy, hanging off every word and picture. Iceland has been on our list for a while, would be great to take the Land Cruiser there.

Keep having fun.

Holly still says no.

could do males only mike lol

:icon-cool:

you would advise a snorkel then andy? dont really want one, and dont really want to go to the depth that requires a snorkel, but..

watch yourself on that plane, looks like theres some sharp edges..

in regards to some tracks not being open iceland have had a long hard winter and spring apparently. funnily enough the norwegians were saying the same to us this year.
