I'll soon need new shoes for one of my cars. In the past I have been EXTREMELY satisfied with the Cooper STC (it's an AT with chip-resistant compound), but they're not importing them anymore... Got close to 50,000 km on these, excellent AT grip, good resistance to punctures.
On the other hand, I have been really displeased with the Cooper STT (it's a MT). Excellent grip and traction, but you're lucky if they last 15,000 km.
For the conditions in which we operate in the bush, MTs have an advantage, even though ATs can do the job 99% of the time.
I'm looking at Kumho MTs in 30"-31". What kind of life can I expect with 50% asphalt - 50% trail/offroad, driving at reasonable speeds on road (80-100 kmh)?
