Any way, just 3 hours to your long awaited sleep.
Long flight eh? When I do Manchester to Beijing, it feels like in the air forever.
Wish I could sleep, but can't just a series of 5 minute naps.
Yet her, (Fay) on the other hand, has many times fell asleep before they shut the doors on the aircraft,,,,,,,, !

To be honest Gra I find the whole experience really horrible. 
So much so that if/when I return to the UK for a holiday I'm going to have to fly business class. At least then you can recline the seat almost flat and hopefully get some sleep.
The 12 hours to China was pretty bad, after the first short flight to Paris, but then the 10 hours to Melbourne was just too much.
Anyway I'm enjoying my new country so far.

Hey it's great fun posting on forums with members around the world! I post on Turbobricks which is a US based Volvo site, but has members in Aus, Europe and the US/Canada; posting seems to never stop on there!
My recommendation is to change the time on the board to match local time; it gets too confusing when it's telling me that it's the time in the Aus and I'm in the UK and vice versa.
Glad to hear you made it; don't forget it could take up to 10 days to get rid of your jet lag (1 day for every hour time difference). I think you're on the right track though of not sleeping on the journey and then sleeping at the "right" time when you reach your destination.

Whoo Hoo, finally there Ben, I can imagine how excited you must feel. Yeah the only way with jet lag is to what you are doing, don't sleep until the time you would have slept back home, or as near to it as you can, that's always worked for me. Looking forward to new LJ70 Build Thread! posts.

I'm 11 hours ahead Steve.
Went to bed at 10pm and woke up at 6am. So feeling pretty much normal now.
Dave already wishing and hoping to be back one day for Lincomb. Always such a great weekend!

Wednesday is going to be a scorcher though! 30 degrees+
Dont want to say too much, just encase it doesn't work out, but............................

It's 01:10 here in Bucharest and 10:10 in Melbourne on the same day, so you must be 9 hours ahead of us until we change the clocks for an hour in March...

Got a phone sorted today and almost bought a satnav.
I figured rather than spending $150 for a normal satnav, I might aswell spend a bit more and get one I can also use off road.
I spotted a Navman one with HEMA 4WD maps on it, but it turned out its the old model and the new one isnt out yet and their not sure when it will be.
The new one has free lifetime map updates, but the old one only has them for 2 years.
So then I got thinking maybe I could just buy a normal $150 satnav and then buy the off road maps for it.
I dont know, think I need to do some more research.
Going to just by a paper mapbook for the moment.
This is another one I was looking at, but its not cheap.

Going to look at cars tomorrow. I wanted a 4x4, but looking at prices and my rather limited budget, I would get a much better car for $3-$4k than I would a 4x4.
So I think I will just buy a car, not as fun but probably more sensible given the budget.

Now I guess is a good time to conserve the pennies until the pay checks start rolling in.
Just buying a runner sounds the best idea for now.
Guessing after a few months of pay checks, there will be a nicer car standing on your drive, with the 70 series, as the play toy.
Sounds promising to hear there could be a job so soon.

Need a job really.
Also need some where to live. Staying with my friend Laura and her folks for the next few days, possibly a couple of weeks. But I dont want to over stay my welcome and would rather leave, before it reaches the point where their wishing I would.
When the container turns up I'm going to have some big bills rolling in. Going to have to pay import duty on everything, and if/when quarantine inspectors decide some/all my stuff isnt clean enough. I will face a bill for them to clean it.
I think you and others would be shocked if you knew quite how little money I've been able to bring out with me.
Might have made more sense to stay in the UK for a while longer and save some more money. Or even to have sold the truck in the UK.
What am I thinking??

You would love the amount of cruisers here!! I'm guessing other countries must be similar? parts of Africa maybe?
Driving down the road there are so many nice cruisers, and most have ARB bumpers, snorkels, bigger tyres etc. Cruiser heaven!

The following there is very big.
I went to Gambia couple of years back and there were a fair few there. Loved seeing them.
