I don't know of an overlanding reason but it has to be that way if you
ever want to use it at the edge of the road here.

I never used the waffle boards but I have the impression that they make
these only quite small. When buying sand ladders, get the large ones -
they're easier to use.
Which side is the passenger side ? Where is your steering wheel ? Depends on
where you live !

Subject: [ELCO] Overlanding Queries : Sand Ladders / Waffle Boards and Which
Side The Awning
Hi Y'all,
'Days to do', but before I do go I'm seeking your help and advice once
again!
Could you give me your views on the relative merits of the sand ladder and
the waffle board. It appears that the waffle board is more likely to induce
a loss of traction due to its plastic construction, but it is lighter than
the sand ladder; that the sand ladder is better at bridging .... Is the
sand ladder a better bet for the varied terrain I'll encounter going around
Africa, or has it been superceded by the waffle board? Is there another
option?
The current UK stock of Eezi Awn awnings appears to be zero, whilst the
Master (AKA Julian) seeks a supplier further afield ... a question prompted
by the awning promo photos : all the awnings I have seen seem to be fixed to
the passenger side of the vehicle. Apart from the phographer's whim, is
there a good, overlanding reason for this?
Thanks
Regards
Peter

if you end up buying aluminium sand plates buy the thicker ones =96 5mm i
think (i bought 3mm and they bowed horribly when used).
