Hi

I have a 80 series diesel and yesterday the brake lights got stuck on. I have checked the pedal and its not touching the switch. Are there any other things that could cause the lights to be stuck on?

Thanks

Spray the switch with wd40

If there is clearance on the pedal, the switch may be stuck down.

Just a thought.

Cheers

As andrew said its got to be the switch. Or at least that's the first place to start. Take the wire off the switch if the light goes out it is the switch.

Might I suggest covering the pedal with a cloth first? WD on your brake pedal could be interesting. I'd perhaps use contact cleaner instead.

Hi,

Thanks guys. I covered the pedal with a cloth and sprayed the switch with WD40 and adjusted the switch but still stuck on! I am thinking that its either the switch or the aftermarket central locking system that the previous owner has installed.

Is it the brake lights or side lights that are stuck on?

Do you have a tow bar and associated electrics? - most odd electrical problems with lights we usually find we can trace back to the tow bar electrics.
