Hi folks

wow..what a struggle to buy a BJ/FJ 40 !

I seem to have to go down the "one that needs restoring route" can any of you recommend a specialist to fully restore for me?

Otherwise I have a budget of up to 15k for a good restored one if any of you know where one is.

cheers

Mark.

Hi Mark,

The one in the next post - restored by Charlie Preston (a bj40 restorer of repute).

You couldn't restore one to that condition for the asking price today... not unless you've got full workshop facilities and in depth knowledge of the 40 series.

That is undoubtedly the snip of the decade.

Hi Rodger

Assume the green one in Romania on eBay you are referring to ?

M

The one in Romania is an FJ40 so I assume not.

Thans Rodger, I am nt good as you can see on computers, is there a link to the advert or phone number for it?

Thanks

M

Hello

Thanks for advice good people, I am happy to announce new addition to our family the white BJ40 you pointed me towards yesterday, it has been named by my wife already.. She thinks he looks like a Trevor....

So much appreciated help( especially Rodger).

Mark.

Well done Mark, that is a fantastic looking 40 indeed. No I'm not jealous one bit... nope not at all

You should bring it down to Lincomb next weekend

Hi Mark,

Congratulations....

One day I hope to get mine half as good as that Charlie Preston restoration.

Try and take it to Lincomb as Rob says, I'm sure that many of the club members present would enjoy seeing this 40. And it would be good to have a white 40 at Lincomb again - ask TonyS. There is no obligation to get it dirty.

Glad to be of help, enjoy it and look after it!

Regards,

Hi all,

Well picked the BJ up today from Glossop and good as described! Very pleased ( not built for three hour motorway cruises though)
In great condition might just get some restoration work done to make perfect, again, if any of you know a restorer for a BJ 40, I would be happy to hear.

Cheers

Mark.

Hi Mark,

Pleased that you like the BJ...

What particular bits need attention? There are a few people about who are more than capable but we all have different strengths, so knowing the problem areas helps to direct you to , hopefully, the right person.

Where are you based? 3 hours from Glossop, even in a 40, is quite a long way!

Regards,

Hi Rodger

The seats need re upholstering, the engine ( air box etc) could do with re painting so I guess engine out, tear in head lining, heater vent broken and a few small tweaks to tidy it up a bit.

I must say, the previous owner really loved it, we all have our levels of "restored" I guess I want to see everything near to perfect with going concours, I want to use it.

I guess I am looking for a restorer who has workshop facilities to do the whole cr and has knowledge of this model for spares etc.

Cheers

Mark.
