I'm restoring a Toyota Landcruiser BJ40 (04/1980) as a hobby, I'm not a professional, when I got to the engine I ordered a complete set of gaskets because there was a little bit of oil on the right side of the engine.
When I took the cylinder head off I saw there was a little crack in one of the four pistons. There were also small cracks in the front chambers in the cylinder head.
They suggested me I have 2 options:
- Revision of the engine, drill out the engine block and install overhead pistons. Anybody a idea how much this costs?
- Buy 4 pistons (to be sure) with new rings and letting the front chambers get replaced.
Hoping for the best of your experience.
