Sorry to pester rat race just need to confirm I am okay to tag along. Cheers

Yep, that's about the size of it guys [emoji106] Long way to go yet but more hopeful now [emoji2] How big is your garden Clive [emoji264]

Ha ha! Well I recon I could park 9 trucks, but not 9 camping. We have neighbour's though...

Certainly we'll find room for all one way or another...

PS

Still think I'm in with a chance at getting the four downstairs bedrooms finished by next summer, so for (four) of those that want a break from camping outdoors, they can have a bash at camping indoors

Well there will be six of us Clive!!! Plus dog if he comes with us...

FCFS you know the drill...

There's also a hotel of sorts 2 kms up the road...

I've been watching this thread with interest, will run it past SWMBO later, it would certainly be a different type of trip for us, so, if it's ok with you chaps, can you put us down as maybe's?

1st job done for me

Just trying to get my head round booking holidays for the wife as she is only alowed 10 days without express permission. This isn't a huge problem but would make the trip to the first camp site quite a slog at 640 miles. I know the trip is quite a way off but is there anyone else thinking of getting down to somewhere nearer Dover on the Friday to be fresh to jump on the dingy in the morning?

640 miles is too much for as well

This route is base on me doing about 400miles a day which is at the top end for me to do in a day

Just looking through this thread and talking with Holly plus looking at costs.

I run on bio diesel in the uk when I get the time to make it. Does anyone know wether I am able to have both my main tank and an aux tank full with bio for the trip. Also am I able to carry extra fuel in say 25L containers in the car? If we come I don't want any issues with the authorities / borders etc or whoever it may be.

I doubt you'd have any problems on the road in Romania Karl, but I'm not sure at the border crossing, nor am I sure of the rest of Europe on the way. Alternatively, Diesel is circa £1.25 at the pumps here at the moment.

I'll try to get some info on the regs at the border...

I dont think the french like fuel stored in jerry cans to be fair karl. Just fill up as you go and dont worry about it.

Never crossed the Romanian border with cans, but never had any problem at any other European borders and got a good grilling at the border between Serbia and Hungary a few days ago crossing back INTO the EU. Had a good look into the back and at everything and plenty of questions about where I had been etc. There were 2 cans of diesel there and he never mentioned them.

Not sure why, but I always get grief when I return to ANY EU countries from outside in the free world.

As regards the drive for the rest of you, its a fairly handy spin as its virtually motor way the whole way to Romanian border. Its just very busy, until Hungary at any rate. Northern Germany seems to be crazy busy on the roads, especially round the Cologne to Frankfurt region. You will get caught in roadworks and traffic a few times day or night.

Don't forget your vignette (at any filling) station for Austria.

Do I remember reading somewhere that you get taxed on fuel you have when leaving Romania?

Thats what I'm weighing up stu. The fact you say don't worry about it is the difference from either saving £500 or not. £500 can get me more goodies for the truck that I could do with. If the fuel side was an issue then it would have to be pumps.

Surly they couldn't say anything about my 160L aux tank being full with bio....

No border crossing is gonna be equipped to test the quality of fuel so a jerry can is a jerry can , while travelling in convoy i doubt that would raise suspicion .

No one is going to look, once its inside the truck and not in a big barrel on the roof rack :icon-rolleyes:

Cheers Yogi.

Wouldnt usually be bothered if I was going on my own. With a bigger group I wouldn't want to hold the rest up.

:icon-wink:
