Hi John,
I think Parcel2Go have just started up international shipping:
http://www.parcel2go.com/
I've used them in the UK, very quick pickup and good service.

Won't the seller sort out shipping for you? When I bought my sliders
from Slee the 'shipping' was quite cheap, it was the VAT, import duty
and customs clearing that was expensive.
Jon.

Hey Jon
No he wont, says his carriers will only ship within the US and then others
will only ship lighter weight. Load of crap really if you ask me. I think
he just could not be bothered. They are 4x4 connection.
See I cant get anyone here to make me a bumper they would prefare to make
gates/railings etc, real stuff to challange their brains.
I even spent hours and put on lbs making a model out of pizza boxes for them
to see.
I cant afford the all american price from Holland.
Ans so the saga goes on and on and on.
cheers

If you think All American are too expensive I would be surprised if you
can get a bumper to you from the states for less. It won't just be the
weight that costs, they're a bulky item as well.
What about the chap Gareth got to make his front bumper, won't he do
another?
Jon.

Hi Jon
I think Gareths cost ?800 I think, so thats even more, but really sturdy.
What did it end up costing you all in for the sliders and are you happy with
them.
I was looking at getting them made but again im stuck with the gates men.
cheers

I thought Gareth said less than that but perhaps not...
I knew how much the sliders were at the time but I've forgotten now
beyond expensive! I think it cost almost as much to get them to my door
as for the sliders themselves but I just didn't have time to make some
at the time.
I'm very pleased with them but for our 93 I've teamed up with a mate who
just got an 80 and we've got ourselves a big pile of steel and a tape
measure to build a few pairs of sliders and a set of bumpers for his ;-)
Jon.

John - =A3500 for the winch bumper. I supplied the swivel recovery points from Scorpion Racing - these were approx =A330 each so the total was =A3560.
I have been down the import route before. As others have said shipping plus import duty and then VAT on top of all of that rapidly increases the price. As a rule of thumb - if an item was $200 in the US catalogue then taking all other costs into consideration then I would be paying =A3200 even when taking exchange rates into consideration.
My advice - sort out your very very scary brakes first. then the handrake the steering and the turbo. Winch bumpers can wait, when you are ready get one from Mark Townsend who made mine.
Regards Gareth.

I still have not got around to sorting my bumper and need to do so. Do you
have any pictures of yours? =A3560 sounds a reasonable price if it's what I
want. Was that including VAT?
I do have a local and very good steel fabricator that I have spoken to about
bumpers and sliders but they are more expensive it seems.
Have you fitted any form of sliders yet or are you not bothering? If yes did
Mark make these as well?
Pete

Peter, good morning,
I do not have any pictures of the bumper but John Byrne took quite a few when he stayed the other week. I'm sure he would mail them to you.
Sliders and rear H/D bumper. Not done yet. I have shown drawings to Mark and he can make them for me. He would need the vehicle for a few days to ensure a good fit.
Mark has a workshop just outside Exeter.
Finish - I would advocate galvanising then paint. I would not powder coat.
How is the cricket season going?
Regards Gareth.

Thanks for the quick reply.
I'll contact John for pictures then...... JOHN!!!!!!! ;-)
Was the price of =A3500 plus or including VAT?
The price didn't include painting / coating then?
I'll certainly be interested in the sliders and rear bumper; I can certainly
leave the 80 with him for a few days, no problem.
Cricket is fine.... I'm not playing any more, well not seriously anyhow. I'm
on the Worcestershire County League and West of England Premier League
appointed umpires panels and am umpiring every Saturday either in Worcs or
Somerset. I'm enjoying it immensely!! :)
Sorry I couldn't make Salisbury, it would have been good to meet up again
and to see your bumper first hand.
Pete

Peter,
Price - =A3500 this included painting & VAT.
I did not take my vehicle to Salisbury - I bravely had a lift with my Gaelic cousin Mr Byrne!
Good luck with the umpiring and watch out for ball tampering !!!
Gareth.

Julian has kindly sent me some pictures. It's not exactly the sort of thing
I want. The actual bumper bit is fine but I want more protection for the
headlamp / front quarter areas as well.
Something more akin to this:

Peter,
It's the radiator than matters while a guard wrapped around the front
quarter can sometimes contibute to more bodywork damage when a bush or
small tree gets hooked by it.
If you're going to use a 12000 lbs winch, make sure the bumper can
take it. AFAIK the ARB/TJM bumpers are rated for less.

John if you like what we come up with I'm sure we could make some more
but remember we're after something functional first and second, looks
come 3rd. You've seen my car, my mates will be just as functional soon
I'm sure.
Jon.

Hi Roman
Yes, I understand about the hazards of front quarter protection but I had
something similar on my RR bobtail and it did prevent some quite nasty
damage on a number of occasions. See pic attached. It can't be well seen but
the space in front of the headlamps is covered with a steel mesh as headlamp
protection.
Something similar for the 80 would be great. I don't mind functional as
against "pretty" - just so long as it does the job.
