Toyota Magazine ideas?

Here's a couple of questions, just me thinking aloud with an editor I
know...
If there was a Toyota magazine on the news stands, apart from the
manufacturer's own, what would you want to see in it regarding
Landcruiser content?
Also, what other features might spur you on to buy a copy? Rallying,
tuning, buyers guides etc etc....?
Best regards,
Neill Watson

Maintenance!! + a directory of places genuinely capable of carrying out
the same.

Thanks, Christopher. That's something I hadn't thought of.
On the LC front, I can think of lots of features I'd like to read
myself, but you're never sure if others share your enthusiasm.
Any other thoughts?

I'm the wrong person to ask as I probably only buy a car magazine once
every 2 years, if then.
Depends on your target audience really. I'd be more interested in the
technical details of fuelling, boost, turbo thermodynamics, etc - but
that's hardly mass-market stuff, although it has the advantage of being
generic rather than tied to a specific model.
With the current price of crude there would be something to be said for
talking about mods that improve fuel economy. I've proved to my own
satisfaction that neither fuel magnets nor adding acetone do any good,
but maybe some of the other snake oil treatments out there merit
investigation. There is also LPG addition for diesels - an interesting
topic in my view.
Another technical topic might be oils, for example: what are the
differences between the additive packages of Euro, Jap and US oils? Does
it really matter? Is it worth going synthetic? How often do you
*really* need to change your transmission oil?
Braking systems, tyres (of course!), headlight improvements (to HiD or
not to HiD), reliability of airbags once they reach 10 years old, ...
.. there are lots of technical topics that could provide a source for
articles, although hardly of the "lad's mag, Nuts with wheels on"
variety.
To go off-topic (or maybe off-target) slightly I think we are going to
see a growth in "alternative" cars over the next few years. Most will be
purely electric, or perhaps retrofitted electric/conventional hybrids
(eg batteries in the boot and motors in the rear hubs). This might be a
more fruitful avenue to explore...
Ho hum, back to real work!

I have been talking to one of the 4x4 mags about writing some articles - sort of 'workshop tales' or a series on maintenance although they seem slow on getting back to me.

Hello,
There's a Toyota magazine over in France but I personnaly find it boring
most of the times: Lots of commercial + articles about the new vehicles like
the RAV4...
Some articles about restorations but they don't go deep enough technicaly
and focus too much on how the vehicle looks like when finished (again, my
personnal opinion).
On the other hand, the magazine ACTION4x4 has a lot of Toyota subjects from
overland travels to restauration and vehicle prep (local outings to
rally-competition) and it's cheaper (the ToyotaLandCruiser Magazine is
printed on expensive glossy paper and cost about 1euro more than the
Action4x4 mag).

Neill,
I think an adventure section, similar to features in Land Rover Owner
International would be a good reason to buy such a magazine. I would enjoy
reading about overland travel ideas, trip reports etc.
