Who is doing what maintenance today?

Gary Stockton said:
Yep - considering that. FSM says to tighten to 37Nm - this is way more than that!!

Mine was FT+full turn. Half meter bar, made sure key was in properly and gave it what-for. When it snapped loose I was expecting to see something broken. Was an almighty crack.

Very important job, put the club sticker on the 70. Had 2 stickers so one on the 120 as well. Good job Crispin never sent me 3 or I would have had to get another Cruiser to put it on

Trev, is that technically maintenance, or is it an upgrade / enhancement? :D
Beautifully positioned Sir.

Chris

Thought I best put it up high, less chance of damaging it judging by my current escapades.

Checked engine oil today, it was spot on after 3000 thousand & something hard miles

Changed the rear heater pipes as the old ones finally gave up this afternoon. I got the local motor factor to cut me 2 lengths of copper tube and press the little flanges into the ends. Then it was up to me to bend them into the correct shape - this was not as easy as I had thought, but it all seems OK now.

Oil change (again... :violin: ) and noticed the front diff is leaking slightly around the fill and drain plug. :(
Also noticed CV boot is leaking from clamp. Next weekends jobs...

Fixed a seized front hub motor by taking the tiny split pin and cog of the motor ...... got 4wheel drive properly now

thanks to Jimbo's youtube tutorial it was a dead easy job to do

Front wheel bearings - inspect, regrease and reset pre load. One less thing for the next service.

Fitted ASFIR transmission skid plate (my diy effort got a bit reshaped by greenlanes in wales and offroading in Spain!)
and fitted new breather pipe extensions to front/rear diffs, transfer box and autobox - which go to a multiway block in engine compartment and then finally a single extension up the snorkel - courtesty of "bits" supplied by Ecoman

found cause of water in passenger footwell under carpet (which i discovered wiring in the CB) = wires i fed through grommet in firewall under fuel-filter not sealed properly... used mastic to seal it up

No maintenance at all this weekend. Nope, not a screw. However, I have used the time to create lots of jobs for the worksheet.

Pulled 2 arches off, multiple dings and crease in the doors, tree shaped dent in the rear tailgate

Oh well. Don't take it if you don't want to break it.

Sniff

On a plus point, tree slider were epic and the new bumperettes were outstanding in fending me off banks etc.

Washed LB and fixed the handbrake in preparation for the MOT this week.

Laning? Not me. If I expected to suffer that sort of damage laning Carl, I'd say that it wasn't really laning. No I was at our local off road site with South Yorkshire Suzuki Club. 2 days of mud n trees. It's not that big but is plenty challenging even in these very dry conditions.

Actually I did have to do some maintenance. I had to find a hose pipe to back flush the rad and condenser. Pulling up an extremely long hill to the site the engine temp went off the scale. I mean right off the dial. All sorts of boiling and tinking noises. Best flush I could give it for about 45 mins, was a good as gold for the rest of the weekend. Time to pull that I think and give it right proper examination.

Replaced the brake pads on all 4 corners of LB. Man the pistons were in a state. Will need to get new dust covers and a seal kit, plus at least two new pistons, and give them a proper service.....

Also been having a intermittent issue with the Viair compressor in that wit would not always switch on. Turned out to be really dirty and slightly corroded connectors in the Anderson connector. Gave it a good clean and alls good now..... except that the pressure switch does not seem to stop the pump at all. Will look to get a new one of those.

I also replaced the IBS 200A relay that links the two batteries as it seems to have been sticking on. Was also getting a bit warm even if the ignition had been switched off for a few hours.

Finally I bypassed the 3rd battery in the back of LB as it is really dead and was just causing a drain on the main batteries and was not even capable of powering up the computer. Once funds have recovered I may look at buying a proper leisure battery.

All in all a good day, apart from me dropping the trolley jack on my big toe..... sigh :( Steel toed boots anyone

Stripped the front axle down to the drive shafts.

Re plumbed the EGR on my new shiney 24V

Can i expect better mpg or will it not really be noticable?

This week I fitted reverse and fog lights to the truck as well as finally giving up on getting the horn to work through the MR2 steering wheel. I opted for the old school horn button on the dash instead.

Now I have these fixed, I went to my pay and play today, rolled it on its side and have a new set of jobs to do grrr
