Who is doing what maintenance today?

Ah yes Karl, poor chap has supplied me with nearly enough bits to build another one recently. I'll see if he's got glass but I need to find new rubbers as I want to do both sides.

Urgh sorry to heat that Trev!!! On the plus side rather the 70 than your 120!

Hope you get sorted soon!

Pah, 'tis but a flesh wound :liar: But if it had been the 120 I'd have been divorced today

Took off my panhard rod to see if I can find out where my "on the brakes turning left" clunk is coming from and found my new Superpro bushes looking like this:

Has the eye on the end of that been welded back on at sometime. It doesn't look like Toyo San's usual welding. Wonder if it's all square. They look a real mess.

I didn't notice that it might not be factory welding... but it all looked fairly straight when I had it on the bench and when I mounted it back on the truck. The only thing is it looks like the rod might be a bit too short with the lift. I might take a look at some adjustable panhard rods.

No Ben, it was the lamest pansy stupidest place to roll. A small gully similar to going into a field off a road, I'd done this half a dozen times before and not even sure how the hell I managed it, one minute upright going down the gully and then next thing I've gone past tipping point and rolled so slowly into the bank I had time to brace my left foot against the passenger door.

I would have felt better if I had been going like a mentalist instead of a bit of 4 x whoring, reckon I was a few inches off line and got the drivers wheel up whilst the nearside went low.

Think I'll be getting spacers to help with lateral stability to counter the body and suspension lift.

What about just sticking some chequer plate in there, Trev? Chances are the panel isn't perfectly straight anymore so getting a good seal on glass might be tricky. Plus the glass is expensive and who knows, it might even get broken again

I don't know Andrew, chequer plate is just so, "LandRover". Maybe polycarbonate instead of glass?

Sorry to hear about your 'whoops' Trev - I'm still smarting from Muxleys damage at Lincomb...

I would just use plain plate rather than chequer plate if I were going to blank off a window - not too fussed on chequer plate...

Changed a water pump, removed broken bolts from power steering pump & towed it to Akasha.

Spent this afternoon with a borrowed bodywork pumping gizmo, stretching and bending my metalwork sort of straightish, until it leaked all it's fluid and then had to pack the job in. Just got to replace the window before next weekend, Karl ........

Handbrake. Again...

Think the DS CV is starting to go and the front diff input seal has started to leak. Just waiting for front trans box to go and then I'll have swapped the full set.

Got spare CVs and shafts built up plus a genuine JW front diff ready to drop in. So it looks like a full front end swap. Easy enough.

Incidentally, the trans and rear diff seals were, as I suspected simply rock hard. There were all sorts of suggestion about the leak at the time, but it was just the fact that they are the best part of 20 years old.

There's a good write up somewhere here on how to do your handbrake. Properly. Only once.

/runs away

Ahh, yes there is. But the problem is that if you go off road a lot (well you can in a proper Landcruiser) the handbrake lasts about 10 mins for some unknown reason. And then you need to do it again.

My turn to run and hide.

C

Oh, besides all that lot I spent several hours with T Cut doing the body work and then polishing it up. It looks so much better. No matter how hard I polished though, the dents didn't come out. But all the pinstripes have gone. Then I cleaned the inside! I know, I couldn't believe it either.

All ready for Lincomb.
