Who is doing what maintenance today?

Couldn't find the hook so I took a large shackle instead, I've bought a new winch hook on eBay now so you can bet your life I'll go out to the garage and find the other one.
The laning was good, there was lots of standing water and a fallen tree I just managed to squeeze under with about 1/2 to spare. , sorry no pics, I forgot the camera.

You forgot where you put the hook, and you forgot to take the camera.

Oh Chas, is that what I have to look forward to in the next 10 years?

I'm forgetful enough as it is! My wife bought me memory pills, but I keep forgetting to take them...:lol:

Took my scabby horrible rims off the 120 to be stripped and refurbed

Added a plug so i can wash out the crap behind the mudflap in future . I could swear there is some kind of trim missing though it's the same on both sides , makes me wonder if the paint shop ditched a bit to make it easier to put back together ? please have a look at your own truck and compare it to the last pic .

It does, but on the other hand it should let the crud wash through instead of being a hidden trap.

Fitted my ditch and rear Brackets with LEDs onto Tory.

Brackets sourced from Yodateq in USA on Mud.... Leds also from US Ebay... Switches from UK Ebay, Australian supplier...

Fitted 2 new batteries today. Up to around 2 months ago they were fine. Then noticed starting wasn't as instant as usual, maybe 1-2 turns of the crank instead of 1/2 turn and when left stood Mon to Frid it was gradually getting worse at starting requiring bench charging of the batteries although it never actually failed to start. Charged them fully overnight and had them tested this morning, one was at 165cca, the other 169 instead of 510. Bought the LC in May '05 with these batts fitted so can't complain really and that's after draining them to well below 9v at least once due to a faulty cold start heater relay problem a few years back. The recommendation for the 80 also listed a pair of 95ah/830cca and not the 70ah/510cca fitted so went with the recommendation. Back to instant start as per usual and OK for another 10 years I hope!

Not today exactly but over the next week or so, I'll be having the following done.......

Full "27k" service - all fluids, spark plugs, filters etc. Front and rear diff oils
The rocker cover gaskets are leaking slightly, so am replacing those to on both banks.
The transfer box rear flange seal (whatever) seems to be leaking, so have the full gasket kit from Toyota and am hopefully replacing those along with transfer box fluids
Rear prop shaft UJs - this will hopefully cure the slight vibration I have at 60-70mph.
Complete brake overhaul - all 4 calipers to be rebuilt (have the seal kits and new pistons from Toyota) and have some lovely Mintex (dimpled and grooved) discs to go all round with Mintex pads afterwards. Really hoping that this will improve the brakes - as I feel it is a weak point on my truck (though probably the same as most other Colorados).

Depending on how the above goes and if there's time, I might do the ARB bushes too - have already got Superpro ones just haven't got around to fitting them. If not that can wait till the weather is bit warmer.

Just hoping that it goes smoothly........fingers crossed!

Replaced the rear wiper motor with a Karl unit - now I can clear the snow off. Thanks Karl!

Got the back window rust treated and re sprayed, problem with the respray is the it shows the rear DS must have been painted before with not a great match!!!!

Front & rear diffs drained (oil like new in rear despite not being changed in last 10 years...different story up front - grey sludge). Now realise I should've tried to free the fill plugs first, which are as good as welded in.
Auto box drained, pan and filter removed. New throttle cable ordered (£80!!) as current one is stuck open. Any advice on refitting this without dropping the valve body would be much appreciated! Hopefully this, along with fresh oil, will sort out the shifting problems I've been having.
Oh, and fitted new front exhaust section the other day, and fixed a water leak. No rest for the wicked...

Had a look under the 80 today to see why I had a patch of oil on the driveway! That'll be the rear crank seal leaking oil then :icon-cry: need to get a seal ordered and put aside a Saturday to pull the gear box and sort it.

Oh nuts..

Much easier with the transfer box off first. Only 9 bolts

Yeah looked like it'd be easier with it off, looks a big heavy lump of a gearbox too. It's going to have to wait though poss even a couple of months tbh! Shouldn't of cleaned the mud off, it was soaking up the oil!!

It is Gary. Scott and I wrestled this mother out on the drive

Much more room and lighter with this off

Glad I'll be doing it at work with a ramp and gearbox lift!

Pah, it's not a real achievement unless you have really struggled. Workshops are for girls.

Wish I had a workshop...

Changed my wipers today and the rear tailgate struts. Working in the green one I managed to snap the adjuster for the AC. Doh. hey, look in this box. A spare one! Yay. Nipped up the altenator belts too. Stopped the awful squealing from cold.
