Who is doing what maintenance today?

Fitted a GPS tracker today, a remarkably simple and small device, just can't stop sending it texts even though it's parked outside :icon-rolleyes:. It replies with a txt containing a link to Google maps.:icon-cool:

Pah, it's not a real achievement unless you have really struggled. Workshops are for girls.

Wish I had a workshop...

Done plenty struggling in the past, never used to be allowed to use the workshop out of hours, wanted us to pay to work on our own motors during normal hours!! Manager changed that a few years ago as he said it was a joke! Bottle of bombay saffire on his desk to say thanks and he makes sure upper management are kept straight :icon-biggrin: as long as your off the ramp by Monday all is good.

Prob get my apprentice to give me a hand, kettle doesn't boil itself after all lol

Gary, let me know when you are planning to do it. I'd like to come up drink coffee and watch you faff about.

No, seriously, if I am free and you'd like a hand maybe I could get up there and assist. Having done one and knowing Cruisers, trust me extra hands are very useful. Of course some daft insurance thing might not allow you to have non employees in there. There's lots of very time consuming twiddly bits to undo and put back and having someone who not only knows but cares and can crack on is a real boon.

I'll give you a shout. It'll be after emma has had the baby and I'm back to work, due in 2 weeks and having 4 weeks off work. 80 is pretty much a driveway ornament until then unfortunately.

Will go order some bits this week though so have them

Gary there is a seal behind the torque converter too. The TC just pulls out. Maybe worth changing that whislt you are in there for the sake of a few quid.

Yeah already crossed my mind to order that too, will prob drop the atf too, got a couple of hundred litres at work that's just sat there lol, don't use it anymore not even for power steering (mostly electric or different fluid)

Had a word with the boss and the official line from him if you help out Chris. .... If he has an accident and dies, drag him outside and leave next to the skip

No, NO, please I couldn't stand the shame. Please don't let me die in (or near) a BMW dealer. At least drag me somewhere like Honda, Suzuki at the very least.

fitted ARB aluminium rack today.
Real nice piece of kit and easy lift on/off compared to weight of steel ones.

Just waiting for Patriot rear ladder and all set for summer trips.:auto-swerve:

Here you go. I threw away the supplied SIM as it 'smelled at bit proprietary' and stuck a Vodafone one in. Works a treat. Just enter the code in your text to it and it responds. Got mine hard wired. I now need an app which auto texts it and only tells me if it has moved as then I will have something largely the same as proper trackers.

Does it need an external aerial?

No, it's just like a phone. Works in the car. As always, best to run it for a while in your preferred location in the car to make sure it gets a signal and responds.

Well today I WAS going to replace my HID spots with a 20" LED light bar, if you remember I asked about locking nuts for
spotlights a few posts ago, well I've just found the existing spots have, you guessed it, BLOODY LOCKING NUTS and I can't find the special 'key' needed to get them off. :angry-screaming:

I know where it is Chas, it's with the winch hook and the reversing light camera, in a safe place...

OK Clive, next time you're over YOU can come and look for it.
EDIT
Found the winch hook, it wasn't there.
