I bought many many years ago (15 at least) from Maplin Electronics a Realistic Hyperscan PRO-26 scanner that we used for listening to everything from the neighbor's BT wander phone through to people having mobile phone calls and all of the emergency services. I've just found it while going through some bits & bobs & was wondering if you can still scan all of the above or have things moved on in some way to stop you from scanning like we used to in the good old days :)

public services and mobile phones have gone digital and are encrypted, so no luck there. The neighbours phone, if it is half decent is probably also encrypted in some way. You can probably pick up aircraft, cb (mostly taxis) and ham radio - but strictly speaking there are restrictions in the UK on picking up transmissions not intended for you. You might be ok if you dont disclose what you pickup. Others are better qualified to comment.

I have one somewhere and the last time I used it was to check my cb radio.
