90 as a overland truck

As a Defender owner I would say the Defender is better when the going gets rough (better angles of approach etc, articulation is superior so it can get traction out of nowhere it seems at times) but the Land Cruiser is better on smooth slippery surfaces (2 diff locks as opposed to one).

Would agree that the defender is a better out-and-out mud plugger, as is an 80, but the 90 series has to be one of the best all-round vehicles money can buy. It just does everything well. Comfortable, smooth on the road, economical in d4d, will go 90% of the places a defender will, but wont break down, carries a lot of gear in lwb form. That's why I think it would make a great choice as a daily drive come overlander within a budget.
