Hi,

I don't know if you are aware, but Andrew St. Pierre White the 4x4 film maker from South Africa is organising a trip from Cape Town to John O'Groats this year with his Brother in law Tom as the source of a new TV series as well as to raise funds and awareness for the Save the Rhino campaign.

Tom is doing the trip by bike and then Andrew is following on in his Troopie and will be filming the trip for his on line community. If all goes well he is aiming to round off the trip by dropping in to the Adventure Overland show on 28th/29th September.

Andrew makes probably the best overlanding/4x4 films that I have come across, mixing some great technical information, useful tips as well as interesting trip reports. I used to watch them on the old Sky channel SA Direct, but then when that went under Andrew shifted them on line where they are available for a small subscription fee at http://www.4xforum.com

Andrew has had some problems with larger sponsors so has had to go back to the drawing board at the 11th hour to raise funds for the trip and filming.

To try to make up the short fall Andrew is offering a few options like pre-selling access to the film as well as lifetime subscriptions.

Even though Andrew is looking for donations, the benefits make them well worth it so do please check out his site and the trip page at http://www.4xforum.com/trans-africa/ to find out more.

made a donation the other week via paypal, whilst I was in Nigeria, and it got blocked and my paypal account locked.. :wtf:
but sorted it out with paypal and it has been successfull now
I have have been able to download some of the older videos - great value

Hope he gets enough funding as it will be a great story

Tour is off. Message from Andrew on Facebook.

Just to let everyone know, I've called off the 2013 Trans-Africa expedition. Instead I am putting together a mini-series for broadcast with Paul Marsh. I've been trying so hard to get this one going, I now feel I'm flogging a dead horse. So trans-Africa will have to wait.
