Auto folding mirrors on the 150

@TonyP has one for the 120 which works.
I did read some on AliExpress which work on "double-click" the lock button.

Yeah I have something similar but not the same brand. I have a thread on here somewhere, but as I understand it, the company no longer exists...

Well after my installation of the auto folding mirrors i have noticed some thing strange. Now when my left hand parking mirror activates the image is rotated 90° on the screen. The guide line which is projected over the top of the image is still pointing the right direction though. I noticed if i push the fold mirror button to close then open again the image is orientated the correct way briefly , then I hear a small click under the dash near where the mirror module is located . Immediately afterwards the monitor flashes black and rotates the image back to the wrong orientation. Any Ideas before I hack into this thing ?

Thanks to the posts on this thread, i managed to locate a PLUG AND PLAY unit from a vendor in Aliexpress.
I have to commend GZ WinsGo for replying to my questions very rapidly and having the (units) i ordered shipped out within 2 days.

The kit i ordered is for a LC150 D4D 2.8L, Limited (2016) - which i believe is the equivalent to the Invincible in the UK & Prado elsewhere. It is important to specify your model/year when ordering, as due to the fact that some LC´s models have the cameras while others don´t, this can change the required kit. Anyway, i sent the vendor lots of pics just to be sure i was indeed getting the correct kit.

It arrived within a few days (DHL) and took about 10 mins to install.
All thats required is to dismantle the mirror control panel and the plastic cover on the drivers side footwell (in order to reach the window and door lock connection plug) . Once open, its a simple matter of connecting the plugs into the loom and closing everything up again.
I don´t have any pics of the install itself, but the only difficult part is taking off the footwell trim/panel as that requires both finesse and force.

below: check if your LC has cameras or not...

(a bit tricky to do: dismantle footwell panel located next to footrest)

I also ordered (and installed) the OBD plug which closes the windows and locks/unlocks the doors when in drive or park. This simply plugs into the OBD socket and works flawlessly.

Mirror plug & play kit:

Window + Door lock OBD kit:

I highly recommend these plug & play units as they are simple, effective and very fairly priced.

I wonder if you could enable these features with tech stream. It'll have a play tomorrow and see.

Keep us posted. Will be interesting to hear if you can.
I just wanted to share my findings as i don´t have access to a TechStream and as i´m not very good with cables/splicing, etc I wanted a quick & reliable plug and play solution.
I was so frustrated at having to open/close my mirrors manually and not being able to see any potential dangers when opening the door once the mirrors were closed.
I´m so glad to have this function now!

You Can enable the Window/sunroof open/close on lock or unlock with techstream or Carista.

Where is a reliable source to buy the techstream? Does it have any other useful functions apart from the ones mentioned above (now that i have already sorted them with the aliexpress kits...)?

Regards,
E

you can buy the OB2 cable and Techstream off ebay. Its what Toyota use as a diagnostic tool. It has many settings available.

qudos
Right, I launched the 150 into the 20th century with auto-folding mirrors :D

I bought a Auto-folding mirror kit from AliExpress for around £18 including postage.

They asked for a photo of the back of the mirror cluster so they could send the correct loom.
I sent this and it was sufficient.

The module arrived within a week which was pretty impressive.

Cluster out, loom adaptor in between and you can put it all back (Forgot pic :( )

Remove the kick-panel in the driver's foot well.
Next to tap off 12V (non-switched) which was easy enough - came off the door-control plug.

The next bit was a bit of a faf and took me a while to find as there are many wires and no instructions.
You need the lock pulse and the unlock pulse for when the doors lock and unlock. I thought I had found it on the white plug and after convincing myself it was correct and the module was broken I realised they were for the indicator flashes.

There are 4 plugs - going down, a black one, white one, grey one and yellow one.
The 12V can be tapped off the thick red wire on the white plug.

The lock and unlock signals are on the upper black plug. While plugged in, the bottom row of wires, the green and blue ones. (Blue one pictured above)

The green wire from the module goes to the blue one and the grey module wire goes to the green wire.

Tap those off, hold close the door switch and arm the alarm.
Like a 21st century car the mirrors whirr into action :)

I would love to understand why Toyota does not do this as a factory option. It would be even easier to do it in-house as it's all CAN-bus anyway. Ho hum.
Qudos to Crispin. I bought a module for the 150 from Ali Express,$AU20. Nice unit but the instructions were abysmal. Wanted me to "Take off the interior panel of the left side door"(I guessed trim) then "Take out the side mirror control switch plus, and put the original car side mirror folding kits plus relatively" (WTF???) so after doing this and finding nothing remotely like the description I searched here and found pictures and clear instructions. The interior panel is I know now is the right side kick panel.
Well done and thank you.

Just stumbled across this thread thankfully, have been looking for a while but only found a seller saying only for LH drive or not compatible with 360 camera, anyone know where i can purchase kit compatible for LC5 2013 RH UK drive with surround cameras? crispin link is dead and so is the other, alternatively anyone know a good garage in london (preferably NW London) that specialises with Land Cruisers?

Thanks a mil

Nice... I'd be happy with electric folding mirrors...

Hi Gasman, I have the same issue, any luck in getting it sorted? Many thanks

No mate. Just putting up with it. Have thought about removing it but havnt bothered.

Well, today I took delivery of my 2019 Invincible and lo and behold, auto folding mirrors are a standard. Happy days!

About time Mr T brought this out :)

How you finding the new one compared to the '16?

I love it. smoother, better fuel consumption, and staying on the issue of folding mirrors, they are also tilting now, every time you reverse. I have only been driving the vehicle two days, so still learning its ways. There must be a secret menu to work out autolocking function, follow me home lights etc, but I have not found it yet.
